STEM Conclusion

We started writing the conclusion in class today. We will finish it tomorrow. Some scholars could not write their conclusion because they still did not have results from their experiment. This was a class work assignment and worth 20 points.

Pennies for Patients

As we continue to try our best to raise funds and meet our goal for Pennies for Patients, we thought that this may put it into perspective for you all...please share with friends, family to empower them and connect more personally with their generosity!

$1000     Provides one week’s salary for a medical researcher at NIH, Johns Hopkins or GW who may discover key information for developing curative treatments for blood cancers.

$ 200      Provides funding for a Family Support Group Program for one year where comfort can be found and experiences can be shared among patients and family members mediated by a trained facilitator.

$ 150      Provides for 5 patients to make a First Connection with a trained peer volunteer patient/survivor.

$ 100      Helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.

$   75      Covers the cost of one tissue typing test that is used to become a bone marrow donor.

$   50      Covers the cost of one CT scan.

$   40      Covers the cost of sending a comprehensive support and informational packet to the family of a child with cancer.

$   35      Provides transportation expenses for a patient living in the DC metropolitan area to a comprehensive cancer center for treatment.

$   25      Covers the cost of one prescription co-payment.

Scholastic Books for Nauman's homeroom 

I recently placed the order for January. If you placed an order online, it will be arriving soon. If you would like to order for the month of February, our class code is JKKPC. Thank you for your continued support in helping to build our classroom library with every order you make.

STEM Fair
Just a friendly reminder, due dates for STEM are approaching fast. Please make sure your child is working on their STEM project every night. We are working on writing the notes/outlines in class and the research paper. This is difficult if scholars do not bring in their research (print outs of Internet sources, books, etc.). We will be writing a bibliography as well, so all the information needs to be there; not just the website address. Please make sure they are bringing these materials to class everyday. They are working on the outline part in Science class and during Enrichment classes this week.

Honor roll assembly and Panda Express Fundraiser Night

Just a friendly reminder that the honor roll assembly is tomorrow. Your child should have received an invitation if s/he made honor roll. Also, the Panda Express fundraiser is tomorrow night from 4-7pm at the Clinton location.

Report cards

Report cards were sent home with scholars today. Please take the report out, sign, and return envelopes to your homeroom teachers. Thank you.
